Anouschka (aka "Chadi") is a Swedish/American singer, songwriter, guitarist, and producer. She is known for stylistic versatility, well-crafted lyrics and music, vocal phrasing and guitar chops. She started as lead singer for one of the first all-girl bands in Sweden before moving to New York where she performed in a comedy improv group. She was later awarded a Scholarship at Berklee College of Music, Boston, and graduated Cum Laude in 1996.
Her musical journey has taken her through USA, Sweden, Germany, South Africa, and Kenya. Her songs play worldwide. Billboard World Song Awards rated her one of todays top songwriters when her song "One of the Finer Days" won Honorable Mention. "Beautiful but Damned" from her album "My Kind of Heartbreak" won Honorable Mention in the John Lennon Music Awards. She has twice placed finalist in IAMA (International Acoustic Music Awards) . Her song "Kiss Me Hello" went on to be featured in the Swedish movie "Rötter".
In 2010 Anouschka penned the first song protesting canned lion hunting in South Africa after training as a Field Guide in the Bush. "Dying to Be Free" was a collaboration with South African author/wildlife preservationist Gareth Patterson and became the campaign song in 60 countries for the Global March of Lions 2014.
An avid visitor to Kenya since 2000, she innovated a new style fusing Kenyan beats and Kiswahili into her writing in 2013. Her album Shine "Angaza" produced by Teddy B in Satellite, Nairobi was a first by a westerner and received attention in Kenya and helped raise awareness for the Kenyan music scene abroad to rave reviews . "Shine (Angaza)" was nominated out of 240,000 entries at the JP Music Awards,USA in 2017. Her reggae song "Hey Day" received Honorable Mention in the prestigious John Lennon Music Awards. "To Know Love" went on high rotation in the UK radio.
Anouschka performs with world class musicians. (Just some illustrious line ups include Chuck Antony, James Bradley Junior Taku Hirano) while managing her label, publishing, bands, promo and distribution. She has been called an inspiration by many by setting a standard of creative control, vision and business savvy as an indie female artist in a male-dominated recording industry.
Aside from music, she has worked as music educator in the public school systems, music reporter for NPR, Project Coordinator in advertising, film, and TV and as Acting Chancellor for the Swedish Consulate. She has degrees in Political Science from Tufts University, Songwriting from Berklee College of Music, and a MA in Natural Resource Management from Stockholm University, Sweden.
In 2016 she was given her African name "Chadi" by the Giriama tribe after crowdfunding money to help 600 of their most impoverished children at a school on the Kenyan coast. Around this time she also became passionate in urban dance and started a new creative phase in her musical expression. She since uses Chadi as her stage name for her African inspired music and self produced neo soul productions in Logic. The name serves as a reminder to stay humble and grateful.
In 2017 Anouschka " started the first fashion brand inspired by a life in music: Song Queen- "For the song in every woman 'cause you weren't born to be a groupie."
