it spot-on here you go yes yes yes yes first of all I must say I love your name Anushka so unless you already what do you hear from where do you hail from uh I have cast I grew up all over the world Asia Europe America so you have a sample oh and when when is that just me no music bug get you I was always when I was a kid you know back in the days we had those tape recorders I was always playing into those tape recorders just going yeah but then when I was 13 and that's when it happened started happening as I win with the kids I have a name this one no I had one before it called tinker and it got stolen oh sorry so but this was just a tech I mean II mmm but I have a Martin Gibson that I have a Gibson in Europe that I usually perform with it's very professional instrument and I call it Martin Martin I always call him Martin he's always a hashtag margin traveling with me so you you are a talented songwriter as well what is your what is like your writers have different ways they write different things that inspired them to write so maybe we thought that what are things that inspire you to write so I'm an instrument based son right okay that means I actually studied guitar I went to Berkeley for guitar oh it's my degrees in guitar not I didn't really study vocals at first I studied with the guitar and songwriting so writing feminist I also produce with loops and stuff but grating from an instrument it gives you a whole different kind of flavor and when you learn guitar and you learn different song writing styles that's what you do a little bit of blues you do a little bit jazzy you can do a little bit Kenya style you know you can fuse styles and I like to mix it up yeah so what is your what is that you know like I said you welcome your global what is your favorite type of music in between all right so this song you're gonna sing for us which is called shine that's gonna before my next it's a song because you know it's your performing it at a global stage I will tell us about that yes I'm very excited there's a thing called medium and it's one of the I think it is the largest music industry event in the world largest is held in can every year on the Riviera and I'm one of six singer songwriters this year selected to officially showcase so in my 45 minutes slot as a singer-songwriter singing with my guitar I will take Shane from Kenya with me it's gonna travel with me the spirit of Kenya and I'll share that spirit over there and I hope that that will create more bridges dialogue and creative exchange Kenya's inspired me tremendously through the years I've been here coming and going for 19 years and I'm really so it's happy it's a win-win yeah it's been here for 19 years in as you take our spirit there what what do you think about the conversation has been going on even occasioned by some of the South's governments on Twitter this week about Kenyan music you know 90s there's a lot of time so you had a sample of a wide array what is it about kind of music and how we are responsible in playing continues well I think there's two issues there's a local market and then the export driven market now for the local I think you've got your own set of game you know it's very different from the West so when like for instance when you talk about playing Kenyan music as an export driven market I think it's a little bit like what Pierre was talking about or Peter before the young man yes about you have to think about the global standards so a lot of the stuff that's getting exported now you have to say like when I export my songs from here that I recorded with Teddy B or with Dilli I actually might need to get them remixed remastered to other radio standards abroad depending on the standards of sound and audio quality sometimes for instance the second consideration is the actual songwriting of the songs that are done sometimes as in form content and arrangements the Western standard is very different just an example is in Nashville they say within 30 seconds you got to get to the hook or your song is dead on arrival Wow yeah so you think of a jam track here you know anyway so there's these standards to consider and I'm hoping I would love to be a part of that dialogue I've seen both sides now and I love T I used to be a music educator and I was thinking why not teach some song writing workshops tell some young people here upcoming artists well this is what sort of goes on over there change interesting to share that knowledge 19 years like saying you have them switch from both sides that'll be perfect I would ask well you know you know we can follow you and if this is you at least you have the spelling down here but what no sorry what are your social media handles we're gonna get your music right so my Instagram handle is
